Choir 'Credo'

 General Information

Credo Choir was founded in 1995 on the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and is functioning as a part of Educational and Cultural Center. The founder of this artistic group strives for the formation of an ample and thorough choir program with a religious and laical touch, also including various stylistically oriented works. The Credo Choir sings in "St. Panteleimon" thus orienting its' activity toward spiritual education of young people. The rector of the church is protopop, V.Potoroaca.

Youth, purity, sincerity, the sense of faith in God and its' light and wonderful significance have determined the interpretative "credo" of this young artistic collective. The Choir's repertoire includes Renaissance masterpieces and works of Classicists and Romanticists. Rumanian, religious and laic works constitute a considerable part of the repertoire.

The works of Moldavian classics and contemporary composers, as well as the works of Russian authors, and choral folklore arrangements are the main aspects of the artistic group.

The uniqueness of choir's activity is the adherence to military education of religious and social essence. During its' activity, the choir has become an active participant of all formal and religious ceremonies. The diversity of the repertoire, excellent artistic skills and stage artistry has allowed the Credo Choir to develop its artistic activities independently. As an often participant of various festivals and contests, Credo Choir has won numerous awards and titles. The collective success of the Choir received expression in the golden medal and the title of Laureate, obtained at the III rd International Contest Robert Schumann Wettbewer Zwisckau in Germany in 1998, also the golden medal, title of Laureate and the first place in May 1999 at the XVII1th festival of Orthodox Church Music in Hajnowka, Poland. Other achievements of the choir include the golden and silver medal (C2) in July 1999, accompanied by the title of Laureate, received at the first International Festival "I.Brahms" in Wemigorod, Germany; the title of Laureate of International Choir Olympies 2000, Linz, Austria, two golden and one silver medal.

The variegated and interesting repertoire and high professionalism of the group have earned fame and sympathy from international spectators. That is why the choir is well known not only in its native city, but also throughout the Republic of Moldova and abroad. The artistic manager and choir conductor is Valentina Boldurat, Master of Arts and the professor teaching at Chisinau's Music Academy by the name of Musichesku. During her artistic career, Mrs. Boldurat has worked with different choir staffs: children, students, professional and amateur. Valentina Boldurat had brought up many professional conductors who became music professors in musical schools, colleges and academies, successful conductors of children and adult choirs. Her students are famous abroad and had won numerous choir competitions in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria and Ukraine.
